More than 30 parents, adult transgender mentors, and medical/mental health professionals run our peer support meetings. Our parent co-facilitators are critical to the success of the group, however, they have chosen maintain their family’s privacy by not appearing on this page.
Trusted advisors have guided us and volunteered their time since the group’s founding in 2006.
Susan Landon, MFCT
Susan Landon is a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist with 25 years of professional experience counseling children and their families. As Director of the Child and Adolescent Program at the Los Angeles Gender Center, she provides a safe and supportive environment for children, adolescents, and their families to explore issues of gender identity. She offers in-service trainings on gender variance for parents, teachers, and school administrators. She assists physicians and their staff in developing sensitive environments for their gender diverse patients. In addition to her work with the Los Angeles Gender Center, she has a private practice counseling individuals, couples, and families in Santa Monica, California.
Aydin Olson-Kennedy, MSW, LCSW
Aydin Olson-Kennedy (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has provided mental health care to the transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary communities for over fifteen years. Aydin has trained professionals and families across the United States and internationally and specializes in working with parents, caregivers, and guardians of trans and non-binary children of all ages. Aydin earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from California State University, Chico, and is currently studying for his Doctoral degree in Social Work at Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Jo Olson-Kennedy, M.D.
Johanna Olson-Kennedy, MD is an Adolescent Medicine physician specializing in the care of youth with gender identity disorder, HIV, and chronic pain. Board certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Dr. Olson is the Medical Director for The Trans Youth Program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. She has appeared on ABC’s 20/20 in 2007 and The Dr. Phil Show in 2008 to educate audiences about the needs of transgender youth.
